Thirroul’s character is in its older beach cottages, and a lot of them still carry decades-old wiring — sometimes original rubber or early PVC cable, mixed previous-owner work, and switchboards without modern safety switches. We do careful rewires and circuit upgrades that respect the house while bringing the electrics up to standard, including a switchboard upgrade with RCDs where the old board is past it.
Renovation lighting and power.
Thirroul sees a lot of renovation as beach houses are updated, so lighting and power work is a big part of what we do here — LED downlights replacing hot old halogens, new power points, ceiling fans, and outdoor and entertaining-area lighting that suits the coastal lifestyle. Every new circuit is run dedicated and RCD-protected from the board, not bodged onto the nearest existing one.
Salt exposure on outdoor fittings.
Right on the coast, Thirroul gets the full salt-air treatment — outdoor lights, power points and meter boxes corrode fast, and cheap fittings simply don’t last. We use weatherproof, corrosion-rated fittings on every outdoor job so it survives the sea air. Storm and salt-driven faults are also behind a fair share of our emergency callouts up this end of the Illawarra.

As EVs arrive in the northern villages, we’re fitting home EV chargers in Thirroul too. Older cottages often don’t have the switchboard capacity for a 7kW charger, so we check the board first and fit the dedicated circuit, RCD protection and load management properly — with a coastal-rated outdoor enclosure to handle the salt.
