EV charger installation across Wollongong & the Illawarra.

Home and commercial EV charger installs done properly — Tesla Wall Connector, Wallbox, Zappi and more, with the dedicated circuit, RCD protection, load management and Ausgrid notification the Wiring Rules require. We check your switchboard capacity first, and use coastal-rated enclosures near the beach. NSW Fair Trading licensed, Level 2 ASP.

What an EV charger install involves.

It starts with your switchboard.

A 7kW home charger is a serious, sustained load — not just another power point. The first thing we check is whether your board can carry it. A lot of older Illawarra homes, especially around Corrimal and the coastal suburbs, are still on ceramic fuses with no spare capacity, so they need a switchboard upgrade or proper load management before a charger goes in. Skipping this is exactly how people end up with a charger that trips the house every time the oven and air-con run together.

Chargers we install.

  • Tesla Wall Connector — the most-installed home charger; tidy, reliable, good value on the unit.
  • Wallbox Pulsar / Commander — compact smart chargers with app control and load balancing.
  • Zappi — the pick for solar owners; charges preferentially from your excess solar.
  • Commercial / fleet units — multi-bay and three-phase chargers for workplaces, strata and businesses.

How we do it.

  1. Site assessment. Check the supply (single or three-phase), the board’s spare capacity, and the best charger location and cable route.
  2. Dedicated circuit. Run a dedicated, correctly sized circuit from the board with its own RCD protection — never sharing an existing circuit.
  3. Mount & connect. Mount the charger, terminate it, fit a weatherproof, corrosion-rated enclosure for outdoor and coastal locations.
  4. Load management. Configure dynamic load balancing (and solar modes where fitted) so the charger backs off under household peak.
  5. Notify, test & certify. Notify Ausgrid of the new load, test to AS/NZS 3000, and issue the electrical safety certificate.

What it costs in 2026.

  • Standard single-phase 7kW install: $1,200–$2,200 fitted (dedicated circuit, RCD, cable run, labour).
  • Charger unit: Tesla Wall Connector ~$900–$1,300; other smart chargers vary with features.
  • Long cable run / awkward board location: adds to the install cost.
  • Switchboard upgrade if required first: add ~$800–$2,500.
  • Three-phase / commercial: quoted on site.

Coastal installs — why fittings matter.

Near the beach in Fairy Meadow, Thirroul and the coastal pockets of Wollongong, salt air corrodes cheap outdoor fittings within a couple of summers. We use IP-rated, corrosion-resistant enclosures and marine-grade glands on outdoor chargers so the install lasts as long as the car — not just until the next big easterly. We don’t cut corners on the dedicated circuit or RCD protection either: an EV charger carries real current for hours at a time, and it has to be wired for that, not bodged onto a spare way in the board.

Strong EV uptake across the Dapto growth corridor and larger blocks around Figtree means we do these installs all over the Illawarra.
