Lighting & power points across Wollongong & the Illawarra.
The everyday electrical jobs that make a home better to live in — LED downlight upgrades, extra power points, ceiling fans, outdoor and sensor lighting, and new circuits for renovations and additions. Done by a licensed electrician, to the AS/NZS 3000 Wiring Rules, with a fixed price before we start.
The lighting & power work we do.
LED downlight upgrades.
Swapping old halogen downlights for LED is one of the best-value jobs we do. Halogens run hot, burn power, and their 12V transformers fail — and a hot halogen pushed against ceiling insulation is a real fire risk. We replace the fittings, sort the transformers properly, and get the insulation clearances right. You end up with cooler, cheaper, longer-lasting lighting that pays for itself in running costs.
New power points & USB outlets.
Extra power points where you actually need them — kitchen benches, home offices, bedheads, garages, outdoor entertaining areas — plus USB and USB-C outlets to cut down on adaptors. Every new point is run on a properly rated, RCD-protected circuit, not daisy-chained off the nearest socket.
Ceiling fans & exhaust fans.
Ceiling fan supply and install (a big help through humid Illawarra summers), bathroom and laundry exhaust fans, and fan-light combos. We handle the mounting, the wiring and the switching so it’s tidy and safe — not a fan hanging off an unsupported rose.
Outdoor & sensor lighting.
Floodlights, sensor lights, garden and entertaining-area lighting, and security lighting around entries and driveways. Near the coast in Fairy Meadow, Thirroul and beachside Wollongong we use weatherproof, corrosion-rated fittings, because salt air kills cheap outdoor lights within a couple of summers. Sensor lighting can be wired to its own circuit so it keeps working if something else trips.
New circuits for renovations.
Renovating, adding a room, fitting out a workshop or putting in air-con? That usually needs a dedicated circuit run from the switchboard, with its own safety switch. If the board is full we’ll tell you up front rather than overloading an existing circuit — sometimes a board upgrade is the sensible first step.
What it costs in 2026.
- Single extra power point: ~$150–$350 fitted, depending on the cable run.
- LED downlight changeover: ~$300–$700 for a room or two.
- Standard daytime labour: ~$90–$130 per hour.
- Larger jobs (multi-room, new circuits): quoted as a fixed price after a look.
Why we don’t cut corners.
Even “small” jobs are fixed wiring, and fixed wiring has to be done by a licensed electrician to the Wiring Rules — not a handyman with a drill. We don’t back-stab cheap outlets, overload existing circuits, or leave a downlight cooking against insulation. Every job is on a properly rated, RCD-protected circuit and tested before we leave. For bigger jobs we issue the electrical safety certificate.
We cover the whole region — from Corrimal to Dapto and across the rest of the Illawarra.
